About Pearse

Pearse Coleman has never been too far removed from his guitar, performing and his song writing studio.

His career in the music industry began singing at a restaurant and bar in Darling Point in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs, called the 'Elizabethan Inn'. The venue quickly became known for quality entertainment and was the birthplace of many successful entertainers and bands in the Sydney entertainment circuit in the mid 70's.

Pearse was discovered by a record industry talent scout and was signed to CBS records in 1975 and released Lone Road Runner at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. The album consisted of original and covers songs in a country genre.

Following the album release Pearse and his brother Luke teamed up as the 'Coleman Bros' and performed throughout the NSW Club and pub circuits with overseas tours to Singapore and Malaysia establishing themselves as a quality self contained harmony duo act.

After going their separate ways and focussing on solo performance and other musical projects and ideas Pearse arrived in Cairns in 1989 and quickly began to establish his talents in the local entertainment industry through solo performances in bands and duo’s namely, Hot House Horns, Mango Bros. He went on to write and record three CD's 'Devil Heart' 'Life Goes On' and 'Barratime' which was recently completed.

As a 15 year old Pearse and his parents of 5 siblings began their travels to Australia where they immigrated from Durban, South Africa where he was born and very quickly became a natural musician receiving his first guitar at 10yrs old.

Pearse has always been a performer and songwriter with style influences like Chet Atkins, Hank Marvin, Peter Allan, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Frank Sinatra, Jerry Reed, Don Henley, Jose Feliciano, Stevie Wonder and Crosby Stills.

"As a guitarist I am particularly fond on the flat picking style and melding it with blues, jazz and boogie which allows me to produce a sound and playing style that makes the performance more entertaining and stylish".

"As a songwriter I don’t really fit any particular type of music, I prefer to keep a little distance in my writing and focus on a lyric and musical melody".

"I really love performing and displaying my talent" he says.
